Sin is an agent of decay. Once sin is introduced into anything order and productivity begin to diminish. the term decay means “to pass gradually from a sound or perfect state to one of unsoundness and imperfection.” Such is the nature of sin. Man’s first sin was all it took to begin a chain reaction that sent shock waves throughout creation. Evil is not a thing; it is the lack of a thing. Evil is in reality a lack of perfection. Evil was and is Satan’s tool to chip away at God’s order and perfection. Evil reverses everything God set out to accomplish. Yet, while Satan attempted to chip away at God’s direction, God has determined to deal with that problem of sin in our lives. God chose to send His Son to the world, so that our decaying position before Him, can be restored based on the Work that Jesus did on our behalf on the Cross. How do we know that was sufficient? Three days after His death, Jesus rose from the dead, to demonstrate that He destroyed the power of Satan and death in the lives of those who will follow Him. While we still struggle with our practice, our position is made secure by the work of Jesus! He ascended to the Father, and sent the Holy Spirit into the lives of those who choose to follow Him. Our position is secured not because of our righteousness, but because of His being placed upon us. Learn to trust in His forgiveness and rest in the salvation that He provides in us and through us. The transformation He brings makes us more and more like Christ in our heart, and one day will lead us into a perfect walk with Him in His future Kingdom.
