It is the Father, who made the decree to provide our salvation, the Son who carried out the decree and made it possible, and the Holy Spirit that implements salvation into our lives. What a blessing to be brought into the family of God. Many people have said over the years, that their biggest fear for becoming a Christian is that they would not be able to live the Christian life successfully. That would be true if we had to do it in our own strength, but two key passages of Scripture help with this. First, we are told in I Corinthians 3:16 that we are the Temple of the Holy Spirit, in other words the Spirit of God lives in the believer; and second, we are reminded in Galatians 5:22-23 that the “fruit of the Spirit is ….” in other words, it is the Spirit of God dwelling in us, that produces the fruit of a believer. We don’t have to do it on our own, we have the enablement of God in us to change us. It is just like we do nothing to make ourselves grow physically, and to evoke the changes at that occur at puberty. We cannot stop it, nor can we hurry it. That growth comes naturally over time. Therefore, stop worrying about where you are, and begin allowing the Spirit to work in your life to conform you into the image of Christ.
