The Pale Horse of Death – Revelation 6:7-8

by Jim Jamison

DEATH! People have attempted to avoid this reality for years. Explorers looked for the fountain of youth, Dr’s today are looking for ways to overrule it. But the reality is that one firm truth is that we are all subject to it. As the Lord opens the 4th seal, in Revelation 6:7-8, the extent of destruction brought about by war and famine is then quantified. Authority was given to death and the grave to destroy a fourth of the population of the world. We are told death will use four tools in its grim task, War, famine, wild beasts, and pestilence. We see all these things present in our current state, they will just be magnified because of the global state of affairs. The first four seals clearly describe awe-inspiring, frightening judgments without parallel in human history. Noting this devastating has happened, yet these first four seal judgments are just the beginning of the horrific, worldwide woes that the sinful, rebellious world will experience. The black horse of famine – Revelation 6:5-6

by Jim Jamison

In the United States we currently do not know the meaning of famine. Hunger to us, often means that we have skipped a meal. Many of us know nothing of the realities of the depression era, with rampant inflation, and scarce commodities. However, according to Revelation 6:5-6 the third seal, and third horseman of the apocalypse, brings famine. This is the logical consequence of worldwide ware as food supplies are destroyed and those involved in food production are killed. Throughout the Bible God has used famine as a means of judgement in the past, but this will be the most devastating famine in the history of mankind. We take food and plenty for granted in our country, seldom if ever do we have need of want or necessity. We are reminded here that what we enjoy in America is a direct result of the grace and mercy of God. We do not deserve what we have, and we seem to get what we do not deserve. We must never live in a sense of entitlement with what God has allowed us to enjoy, instead we need to grow in humble appreciation for God’s blessing and mercy. The day will come … READ MORE

The red horse of Revelation 6:4

by Jim Jamison

Mankind’s bent leans toward war! As the Lamb of God breaks the second seal a red horse goes forth. God’s judgement descends and the short-lived, false peace led by the leadership of the antichrist dissolves in a blood holocaust. John notes that this rider was granted to take peace from the earth. All that happens will be under God’s sovereign control. He allows the false peace, and then He ends it and brings war on the earth, to demonstrate to the world that true peace will only come through the Prince of Peace. It will be demonstrated that the Antichrist will be as skillful at war as he was at promoting the false peace. Daniel 8:24 describes his career as a warrior: “He will destroy to an extraordinary degree and prosper and perform his will; he will destroy mighty men and the holy people.” Why is this important to know? It is a reminder to those of us who follow the Lord that, first or all, Because of the sinfulness of mankind, we will seek to “lord our power” over others. whether that is seen in bullying that takes place in school, workplace, or governmental authorities or the aggression we … READ MORE
