The importance of service – Ephesians 4:12

The most vital ministries in a church always included some that are not obvious. The faithful prayers and services of a few dedicated saints who hold no office frequently are the most reliable and productive channels of spiritual power in a congregation. Yet, those with less noticeable ministries are sometimes vulnerable to misunderstanding, and often toe neglect or lack of appreciation. These people should be protected by fellow believers just as the body protects its vital organs. To do the work of God effectively, each part needs to function in unison. This working allows the body to function effectively, and creates a unity of purpose within its members. What a Great God we have who makes all those who are followers of Christ, valuable in His service. One of the struggles with the multi-church movement, with “hired” participants is that those who are not apart of the “inner circle” often feel like they are not wanted or needed in the ministry of the church. No church can function without every person doing their part in the ministry of the body. What is the function of the Body of Christ – 1 Corinthians 12

When we say we are apart of the Body of Christ, what do we really mean? Consider this: A body is what represents who we are! When we think of a person, we think of them in terms of the physical identity that is represented in our mind by their appearance. But the reality is that we are so much more complicated than our physical presence. We are also identified by the personality that is manifested by that physical presence. When we succumb to death, we do not cease to be who we are, but our physical presence remains behind. Now take that to the reality of the Body of Christ. As a follower of Jesus Christ, we are the physical presence of His being to this world. Jesus resides at the right hand of the Father, but the reality of His person is seen in those who are His representatives here in this world. Therefore, the local church is to be a physical manifestation to the world of the reality of Christ. The effect of Prayer – James 5:16

Corporate prayer is more than a time when we get together to refresh our spirit and soul. It is more than a time to fellowship with other believers. Times of corporate prayer in church is designed to be the heart beat of the church. Nothing truly happens in the power of the Lord that is not first bathed in prayer. Prayer is so much more than just talking to God – it is the breath of the believer and the hope of the church. Without prayer, churches will choke out, and die. We must not be afraid or ashamed to pray, for it unleashes the power of God in our lives and in our community. We need to make an effort to come together and pray for the needs of the body, and for wisdom to serve the Lord that we love. Not satisfied with your prayer life?
