Created in the image of God – Genesis 1:27

by Jim Jamison

How do we know people? Our bodies only reflect to the world who we truly are. The only way that we can truly know another person is to get to spend time with them, personally. Bodies point us to who someone is, but our bodies are not really us. They are designed to enable us to function in this physical world, and represent to others who we are. We need to remember that the outside does not reflect the truth about us. We spend so much time reflecting on the outside, that it often shapes what we think about ourselves. We must not let the physical realm shape our self value judgments. We must allow the Word of God to do that. With that in mind we are reminded in Genesis 1:27 that we are created in the image of God. Charles Darwin described man as “the most efficient animal ever to emerge on earth” What a degrading view of man. Man is not an “efficient animal” he was made by an act of God in His image and likeness. Then the Son of God stepped off the throne of the universe to enter into human life to become a man not an animal! God has delivered dominion over the planet into human hands, the marks of man’s genius are everywhere despite their fall into sin. The Lord having created us, companions us, crowns us and commissions us. This is almost too wonderful for words. As you face today, remember that God has made you special, and as such He offers redemption to all who are apart of mankind. All men, are created equal regardless of nationality, skin color, or gender. We are created to serve one another, may we learn to accept God’s description of us, rather than our cultures announcement toward us.… READ MORE
