What do angels do?

by Jim Jamison

Since Angels are a separate part of creation, what do the angels do? The Holy Angels who dwell in heaven have many responsibilities, first and foremost, they worship God! Psalm 89:7 says, “God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all those around Him.” Although angels are perfect in their fear of God, we don’t sense at all that they are frozen in fear, instead they demonstrate great freedom in their worship as He wants to be worshiped. Second, Angels seem to watch over mankind. Psalm 91:11-12 says, “For [God] will give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.” Which of us have not been protected in what would seem to be a supernatural way. Third, they are learning from watching us. Ephesians 3:10 says “to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made know by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places.” Forth, they are involved in a Spiritual Warfare. Jude 1:9 says, “Yet Michael the archangel, in contending … READ MORE

The Battle for the mind

by Jim Jamison

Ephesians 6:12 says, ” For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” There is a lot of confusion about the spiritual realm. There are some who believe that angels are simply human beings who have died. Yet the Bible reminds us that angels are created beings, who are watching the plan of God revealed in history. The Bible is clear that there is a distinct difference between angels and mankind, and it is important for us to understand our similarities and our differences, The truth of the matter is that there is a spiritual war going on around us, and we need to decide which side of the battle we are on. We need to understand that this battle affects our hearts and minds! The key to gaining the victory is not to worship the angels, but to understand our position in the kingdom of God. God sent His Son as a Man, not an angel. In the Old Testament, we see the “Angel of the Lord” appearing, which was a visible manifestation of the Lord, but it was not … READ MORE

Do we become angels after we die?

by Jim Jamison

There has been some who teach that people become angels when they die, However, the Bible reveals that Angels are different than humans, in several ways. One, Angels were created to Worship God (Isaiah 6:1ff), and for our benefit (Hebrews 1:14), as they were sent out “to minister to those who will inherit salvation.” Second, Angels are Spirit beings, and not tied to this physical realm. Hebrews 1:14 reminds us that they are “ministering SPIRITS” (Emphasis mine), they are real beings but they are without material substance as we think of it. Third, 1 Peter 1:12 tells us that Angels are curious about salvation. Angels were created as a group, not a race (human race), and as such they have no part in the redemption offered through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. They are determined in their rebellious state, and cannot repent of that rebellion. Angels have an intellectual awareness of our salvation, but they haven’t felt salvation or feasted on it. They can never know the freshness of being born again. Fourth, Genesis 1:26-27, tells us that only mankind (Male and female) was created in the image of God, but nowhere in scripture does it say that Angels were … READ MORE
