Since Angels are a separate part of creation, what do the angels do? The Holy Angels who dwell in heaven have many responsibilities, first and foremost, they worship God! Psalm 89:7 says, “God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all those around Him.” Although angels are perfect in their fear of God, we don’t sense at all that they are frozen in fear, instead they demonstrate great freedom in their worship as He wants to be worshiped. Second, Angels seem to watch over mankind. Psalm 91:11-12 says, “For [God] will give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.” Which of us have not been protected in what would seem to be a supernatural way. There has been some who teach that people become angels when they die, However, the Bible reveals that Angels are different than humans, in several ways. One, Angels were created to Worship God (Isaiah 6:1ff), and for our benefit (Hebrews 1:14), as they were sent out “to minister to those who will inherit salvation.” Second, Angels are Spirit beings, and not tied to this physical realm. Hebrews 1:14 reminds us that they are “ministering SPIRITS” (Emphasis mine), they are real beings but they are without material substance as we think of it. Third, 1 Peter 1:12 tells us that Angels are curious about salvation. Angels were created as a group, not a race (human race), and as such they have no part in the redemption offered through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
