Focus on the Lord in 2021

by Jim Jamison

Well we have entered into a new year, and we are finding that 2021 is starting the way 2020 ended. How are we to respond to all the news that we have before us? Allow me to make a few suggestions.

1. We must trust God in ALL situations. Our careers and destinies are in God’s hands, no one can harm us or jeopardize our future apart from the sovereign will of God. This is not a fatalism, but a confidence given to us through the Word of God. Our future is in Good hands as we trust God with it. (Jeremiah 29:11)

2. We should look to God in prayer in all situations as we deal with the circumstances that are around us. We do not know how God will answer our prayers, or if He will move in the hearts of other individuals, but it is enough to know that our destiny is in His hands, not those of other people. (James 1:5)

3. As we put our confidence in the Sovereign will of God, it will keep us from becoming resentful or bitter when we are treated unjustly or maliciously by others. (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Bitterness usually … READ MORE

Learn of the Lord – Deuteronomy 29:29

by Jim Jamison

Hunting is an interesting opportunity to learn about God. When I go hunting I must do my homework. I need to scout out where the deer are moving, I need to practice my shooting, and make sure that my guns are sighted in properly. I need to prepare my stand and then do the work of getting up, getting my equipment ready for the hunt and then get out on the stand. I must then wait for the deer to come to me.

How does all this teach me about God? Well, I can do all the work I want, but it is the Lord who moves the deer into the area that I am hunting, while I am there. It is the Lord that takes all the preparation that I have done and makes my shot accurate. It is the Lord who provides the liberty to harvest one of His creatures for food for my table. No Hunting can be successful unless the Lord provides.

What spiritual lesson can we learn from this? Each of us has the responsibility to prepare ourselves for the potential circumstances that may come into our lives. We must sharpen our aim, by studying … READ MORE

Happy New Year!

by Jim Jamison

As we approach a new year, we have been reviewing some Scriptural princi9ples to work on every day in the coming year. We saw that according to Philippians 3:13-14 we must forget about the victories and defeats of yesterday; at the same time according to Philippians 4:6-7 we must not worry about Tomorrow. We must remember that according to Philippians 4:19, “God will supply all our needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” God will provide the strength we need day to day, so we we need to remember that Psalm 118:24 says “This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” This is a reminder that we need to make each day count as we are afforded a new day. We must focus on that new day. With that in mind allow me to suggest 4 scriptural principles to consider:

1. Galatians 6:10 encourages us to “do good unto all men” in other words as we approach each day we need to help every person we can. We need to make life about others nor ourselves. Jesus reminds us in John 13:35 “By this shall all men know … READ MORE
