Made Alive by the Spirit – Ephesians 2:1-10

by Jim Jamison

In Ephesians 2:1-10 Paul clarifies what it means to receive salvation and to be a part of Christ’s Body, the church. Here the apostle moves from eternity past into current time. He describes the at and process of salvation, the miracle that draws us into the eternal plan portrayed in Chapter one. Be prepared to Meet Christ – 2 Timothy 3:14-15

by Jim Jamison

One of the great gifts we can give our children is preparing them to meet Christ. In 2 Timothy 3:14-15 Paul challenges Timothy to remember what his mother and grandmother had taught him from his youth. The Word of God should be presented to our children from day one, not when we “feel that they have reached some magical age that they can begin to understand it. The Truth of God’s Word provides for them the wisdom they need to face their years of growing up, and it is something that they can take with them into eternity. A woman who is devoted to the Lord is going to be devoted to her children, husband, and family. While a mother’s love is essential for proper development, there is one thing a mother cannot do for us, and that is to reconcile us to God. That is something that we must each do for ourselves. I can assure you that one thing that will please your mother for all eternity is to know that the life that she has brought into this world has found the new life that is offered to yo by Jesus Crist. I want to encourage you … READ MORE

set them apart for Christ -1 Corintians 7:14

by Jim Jamison

Timothy’s Mom and grandma, not only pointed him to Christ (2 Timothy 1:5) but they also set him apart for Christ (1 Corinthians 7:14). As parents we are to recognize that the children placed in our families, are not ‘OUR CHILDREN” we are given a stewardship responsibility to raise those children to serve God with their lives. This does not mean that they have to go into vocational ministry (although that may happen), rather it means that they need to understand that their lives belong to God. As parents that also means, that we need to allow God to work in their lives in His timetable not ours! With our actions we need to do this by our quiet example, walking consistently and wisely in our world (1 Peter 3:1). With our words we must encourage them that God has gifted them in special ways (1 Corinthians 12:11), remind them that God only asks them to do their job! And with our hearts we are to pray for them daily (Philippians 1:3-4). We MUST remember – Prayer is not our last resort, it is, and must be our first priority! What a wonderful gift children are, let us not loose … READ MORE
