One of the real mysteries of the incarnation is how could two different natures exist within the same person? Louis Berkhof, the great reformed theologian, wrote “The doctrine of the two natures in one person transcends human reason, It is the expression of a supersensible reality, and of an incomprehensible mystery, which has no analogy in life of man as we know it, and finds no support in human reason, and therefore can only be accepted by faith on the authority of the Word of God.” John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the World that He gave his Only-Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” The key word in this verse is “Only-Begotten” the word is “unique” or “one of a kind” Jesus did not become God, rather The eternal second person of the Trinity, became man. The significance of this in wide, but for today, consider that because He was God, His sacrifice on the cross has infinite value. What a privilege to have our eyes open to the reality of that sacrifice. May you focus today, on the goodness of God in revealing this truth to you.
