In the rush of getting everything ready for Christmas, the real reason for Christmas sometimes gets pushed aside. One of the things that I appreciate about December is that it is deer hunting season. Sitting quietly in the woods, watching for deer gives me the opportunity to truly, Be still and ponder what God is doing in my life, and in the midst of the circumstances of my life. I have often made major decisions, while quietly sitting, and taking time to really evaluate what I should do before God. There are some who would say that is a waste of time, but the reality is there are times in our lives when we would do well, to slow down enough to listen to the voice of God as we read the Word, pray, and worship. Psalm 46:10 reminds us “to Be still and know that I am God” During the rush of the Christmas season, you need to guard your focus, and in order to do that, you may need to slow down, and allow the Word of God to speak to your heart, count your blessings, and then make a determination that you will not let the hassles of the holidays crowd out the real reason for the Christmas season.
