Why are we so tied to this world? Why is it that we live for vacation, and for new stuff? Why do we make things important that eventually will become obsolete? Romans 1:25 says, “[they] changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator …” We struggle because sin has such a hold on us and this world. We exalt what is temporary and neglect the things that are eternal. In our society, pleasure is more important than people. It leads us to a question to ponder this morning. What are we living for? 1 John 2:15 says, “Do not love the world or the things in the world, if anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” It is not a sin to enjoy a vacation or a new “toy” but it is a sin when that becomes the thing that we are living for. We are commissioned by God to Love Him, and love others, that is truly the only way that we find satisfaction and contentment in our lives. What are you living for?
