When considering how God works in the lives of people, there is no better place to turn but the life of Joseph in the book of Genesis. Joseph was hated by his brothers, sold into slavery, accused of rape, put in prison, forgotten by a prisoner who was set free, and then began his rise. He interpreted a dream for the King of Egypt, placed as second in command of all Egypt, and “happened” to meet his brothers as they came to Egypt in search of food. God in His wisdom used these events to shape Joseph into the man he was, and instead of becoming bitter over all the events of his life, he says to his brothers after the death of their father, “I know that you meant it for evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.” We need to recognize that God has a plan and purpose for all that he allows in our lives, we need to allow Him to work to mold us into his instrument as we wait upon Him to use us as He plans.
