What will the attitude of people be as the Lord prepares to return? 2 Timothy 3:1-5 says, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, prod, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, head, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” Reading through this sounds like a montage of the world culture today. With the emphasis on self-actualization today, we have created a culture of people who are more concerned about themselves, than the people around them. We have a generation of people who have abandoned what is right and have accepted the truth that we are our own authority. We have become a people who, “do what is right in our own eyes!” We need to recognize that we have an authority, and He has revealed His will to us through His Word – the Bible! As we exalt ourselves, we diminish the authority of the Word of God, and in so doing we make ourselves the authority of our lives. As we look around us, we need to understand that this very issue sets the groundwork for the return of the Lord. That is good news for those who bow to the authority of God. However, it is not for those who reject that authority! Turn from your evil ways, my friends. Recognize the transforming power of God through the implementation of the Word of God in your life; Live in the hope of the gospel, and find peace in the midst of your circumstances.
