Since Angels are a separate part of creation, what do the angels do? The Holy Angels who dwell in heaven have many responsibilities, first and foremost, they worship God! Psalm 89:7 says, “God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all those around Him.” Although angels are perfect in their fear of God, we don’t sense at all that they are frozen in fear, instead they demonstrate great freedom in their worship as He wants to be worshiped. Second, Angels seem to watch over mankind. Psalm 91:11-12 says, “For [God] will give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.” Which of us have not been protected in what would seem to be a supernatural way. Third, they are learning from watching us. Ephesians 3:10 says “to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made know by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places.” Forth, they are involved in a Spiritual Warfare. Jude 1:9 says, “Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devils, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke you!” Angels exist for a reason, and purpose. The fact that so many angels exist helps point us to the picture that our eternal heaven is a very busy place; a dynamic energetic scene with lots of action, with God himself setting the pace. We have a lot of exciting, fulfilling work waiting for us on the other side. So, for now, let us learn all we can from the crew already on duty there – our faithful friends, the angels – and then may we put it into practice right here.
