Overcoming Resentment – Philippians 3:13-14
Doctors believe that resentment affords people a sense of superiority over he people they resent. It gives them a way (an unhealthy way) to place themselves a little higher in the pecking order. Resentment places an angry individual in the judge’s seat. Someone has said that our fantasies of resentment bring about neurotic pleasure and religious pride. With this in mind, how do we overcome resentment? Let me suggest 5 steps to overcoming resentment in your life.1. Think it Through – Philippians 4:8 reminds us to think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and good report. It must start with readjusting our thinking about life.2. Write it Down – Philippians 3:13-14 reminds us that we must forget those things with are behind and press forward. Writing things down, often gives us the liberty to express things clearly, so that we can move on from the emotion of the event.3. Work it out. This can be just some simple physical exercise.
