Love Never Fails – 1 Corinthians 13:8

by Jim Jamison

Love is not a magic key that we use to unlock every opportunity and guarantee every endeavor. It is not a spiritual formula that, when faithfully applied, automatically fulfills our desires., However, whenever and wherever we are successful in our living and ministering, it will always be through love. Because love does not overpower human will, we cannot always accomplish our purposes, no matter how loving, spiritual, and selfless we may be. 1 Corinthians 13:8 is not speaking of love’s successes or failure, but of its enduring qualities, and its permanence as a divine quality. Love cannot fail because it shares God’s nature and God’s eternity. Love never fails in the sense that it outlasts any failures, and is the supreme characteristic of life that God gives, since love is the supreme characteristic of God Himself. In heaven we not only will have no more need for faith and hope, but love will truly be the motive for all we say and do. Remember, the two greatest commands that God has given is to love God, and to love others. . . how are you doing today? It is never to late to incorporate these principles into your life.… READ MORE

1 Corinthians 13 is a very popular passage of Scripture known as the “love” chapter of the Bible. IN verses -7 we find the most comprehensive biblical description of the fullness of love. Paul shines love through a prism and we see 15 of its colors and hues. Each ray gives a facet of agape love. These characteristics do not focus on what love is so much as on what love does and does not do. We must understand that love is active, and not an abstract or passive “feeling.” Love is fully love only when it acts (cf. 1 John 3:18). Take some time this week and ponder the points that are outlined in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, and then do something very hard. Evaluate your relationships and determine if you are making loving choices in the relationships that you have around you. Remember, these characteristics are not suggestions that are nice, they are specific guidelines for us to choose to manifest in our lives. To choose otherwise, would not be simply a mistake, but rather sin against God. So we need to consider these things carefully.… READ MORE

by Jim Jamison

In 1 Corinthians 13 verses 1-3 Paul focuses on the emptiness produced when love is absent. in verses 4-7 we find the most comprehensive biblical description of the fullness of love. Paul shines love through a prism and we see 15 of its colors and hues, the spectrum of love. Each ray gives a facet, a property, of agape love. They do not focus on what love is so much as on what love does and does not do. “Agape'” love is active, not abstract or passive, and is only truly manifested when it leads us into action (1 John 3:18). Ask yourself is you are manifesting these characteristics to others in your life.
