I Love You Mom! – Matthew 19:19

by Jim Jamison

Jesus says in Matthew 19:19 “Honour thy father and thy mother: ” How do you do that is a sin cursed society? And how do you do it when we are told in the Bible that we are “to leave our father and mother and cleave to our spouse?” (Genesis 2:24). “Honour” means to show respect. That does not mean that we have to obey them any longer, it doesn’t mean that we have to agree with their lifestyle, or even the way that they raised us. But, it does mean that we demonstrate to them the love and respect that the deserve, because God has chosen to make them our mother. Of all the potential candidates in the world when you were born, God placed you in the womb of your mother. Because of her respect for you, and her commitment to this pregnancy she chose to carry you for 9 months, and then saw to it that you were cared for while you were growing up. If that does not deserve our respect, nothing else does. We were selfish, self-centered little brats upon our birth, they may not have cared for us the way we would have liked … READ MORE

Mother’s bring life and hope – Genesis 3:20

by Jim Jamison

We often talk about the account of Adam and Eve, but we forget that Genesis 3:20 (after sin entered the world), we read, “And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, BECAUSE she was the mother of all living.” Eve’s name change is directly tied to the promise of God given to mankind in Genesis 3:14-15, That the “seed of the woman would bruise the heel of the serpent.” The significance of this is that mom’s are the hope of all of civilization. No one has more influence in the life of a young child than their mother, because, as created the woman is responsible for the early training during the formative years. We need to be grateful for our mothers, who gave up an important part of their lives to get us an early start in our lives, and to give us a foundation to grow on. What a great God we have that took a woman (Mary) and through her sent the Messiah, Jesus Christ. It is true ladies, hope comes from your impact on your children, and the hope of society is mothers who are dedicated to bringing up their children in the nurture and admonition of the … READ MORE

Home is where the Mom is – Psalms 139:14

by Jim Jamison

Did you ever notice how grown men, line up in front of a camera during some of the largest stages of their lives, and wave to the camera, saying, “Hi, Mom!” Mothers are an important part of who and what we are, and without a mom there is no one who would be here today. It doesn’t matter if your mom is “good” or “bad”, she carried us for 9 months in her womb. Psalm 139:14 says, I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, and this week I reflect on the power of mothers to shape the world, through the raising of their children to impact this world. Never allow the world to minimize your impact nor your sacrifice. It needs to be recognized and acknowledged. My mom was not perfect, but then again, neither am I, What I know is, and will never question, is that my mother loved me and sacrificed for me. I am what I am today, in part, because of the ministry of my mom to me. Tell your mom, Thanks today, for you … READ MORE
