The Holy Spirit is Relational

by Jim Jamison

The Holy Spirit is not a force or power that permeates the universe; The Holy Spirit is a personal being, the third person of the trinity, which possesses intellect (cf. 1 Cor. 2:10-11), emotion (cf. Eph. 4:30), and will (cf. 1 Cor. 12:11). We must understand that by saying that He is the third person in the Trinity, that does not mean third in order, but third in the unity of the godhead! That means that the Holy Spirit is able to fulfill His role in the Godhead, because there is nothing that is powerful enough to stop Him from accomplishing that plan. To many Christians are searching futilely for answers to needless questions. Our problem is not lack of information, nor a deficiency in spiritual experience. Or Problem is that we do not rely sufficiently on the ministry of the Spirit and allow Him to apply the Truth of God’s Word in our lives. All the seminars and deeper life schemes can actually turn out to be counterproductive, sine a false means of sanctification is an impotent counterfeit. The Christians life begins and continues by the power of the Holy Spirit, whom God has graciously sent first to awaken us to our need of salvation, and then to give us a new birth, and finally to dwell within us to eventually present us flawless when Christ returns. We must begin to come to an understanding of this great ministry of the Spirit … READ MORE

Our Attitude for Service – Philippians 2:5

by Jim Jamison

Why should I care if I am a servant or not? Philippians 2:5 reminds us to, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. You can not follow Christ and not be a servant, but we can be a follower of Christ and be a poor servant! C. S. Lewis said, “When Christians behave badly, or fail to behave well, we are making Christianity unbelievable to the outside world.” Our responsibility is to learn to use the gifts that the Spirit of God has given us, for the benefit of others, and not attempt to manipulate those who are around us, or to gain position within the church because of those gifts. We must always remember gifts are given to the church through us! They are not given to us for the purpose of exalting us. C. S. Lewis also reminded us that, “Humility is not thinking less of ourselves, but thinking of ourselves less.”… READ MORE
