Why should I care if I am a servant or not? Philippians 2:5 reminds us to, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. You can not follow Christ and not be a servant, but we can be a follower of Christ and be a poor servant! C. S. Lewis said, “When Christians behave badly, or fail to behave well, we are making Christianity unbelievable to the outside world.” Our responsibility is to learn to use the gifts that the Spirit of God has given us, for the benefit of others, and not attempt to manipulate those who are around us, or to gain position within the church because of those gifts. We must always remember gifts are given to the church through us! They are not given to us for the purpose of exalting us. C. S. Lewis also reminded us that, “Humility is not thinking less of ourselves, but thinking of ourselves less.”
