Four signs of a healthy church – Acts 2:40-47

by Jim Jamison

We encourage you to join us this week as we welcome Aaron and Stephanie Cochrell to our church.  They are missionaries with Baptist Mid-Missions and are serving on the field of Peru.  We have supported the Cochrell family for several years, and are looking forward to having them share with us concerning their ministry.  They will be sharing about their service in Peru during the Sunday School hour (9:30 am) and then will give a brief report during the morning service (10:30 am), and then Aaron will be challenging us from Acts 2:40-47 concerning the 4 signs of a healthy church.  Join us this Sunday morning, August 27th, for this timely message.  We are also planning on a bonfire, food, and a time of fellowship, at an area home, during the afternoon beginning at 3:00 pm.  Call the church (330-674-5927) for further details on that informal time designed to get to know the Cochrell family on a more personal basis.  Because of this afternoon time, we will not be having our regularly scheduled evening service.… READ MORE

Is Jesus Sinless?

by Jim Jamison

If anyone denies the existence of their own sin nature or the reality of their personal acts and attitudes of sin, they are simply self-deluded (I John 8:10). The proof that we are sinners is seen in the reality that we are each going to die (Romans 6:23a). Yet, if we are to be redeemed it must be by one who was “without spot or blemish.” As we continue to explore the Doctrine of Christ, it is necessary to understand that He “was tempted like as we are, yet WITHOUT SIN” (emphasis mine.). Join us this Sunday morning,August 20th, at 10:30 am, as we explore the “impeccability” (sinlessness) of Christ, and its implications in our lives… READ MORE

Jesus: Two in One? (Part 2)

by Jim Jamison

One of the real mysteries of the incarnation is how could two different natures exist within the same person? Louis Berkhof, the great reformed theologian, wrote “The doctrine of the two natures in one person transcends human reason, It is the expression of a supersensible reality, and of an incomprehensible mystery, which has no analogy in life of man as we know it, and finds no support in human reason, and therefore can only be accepted by faith on the authority of the Word of God.” John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the World that He gave his Only-Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” The key word in this verse is “Only-Begotten” the word is “unique” or “one of a kind” Jesus did not become God, rather The eternal second person of the Trinity, became man. The significance of this in wide, but for today, consider that because He was God, His sacrifice on the cross has infinite value. What a privilege to have our eyes open to the reality of that sacrifice. May you focus today, on the goodness of God in revealing this truth to you.… READ MORE
