Christ’s words of comfort – John 14:4-6
In John 14:1-14 Jesus is talking to the disciples about His death, and he shares with them in verse one that our comfort comes from trusting His presence. In verses 2-3, we see that our comfort comes from trusting in the Lord’s preparation for us. And in verses 4-6 Jesus reminds us that our comfort comes from trusting His proclamation. He begins by sharing with his disciples in verse 4 that “Where I go you know, and the way you know.” From early in his ministry Jesus taught how he must die and be raised on the third day” (Matthew 16:21). This instruction to the disciples weas not knew. This “knowing” comes from perception from the eyes, or experience. This the practical experience that he has taught the disciples that was built on what he said and did – “doing the father’s will.” For three and a half years the disciples had listened to the teaching and instruction of the Lord they have lived the path!
