The Promises of God demand Christ’s return – Titus 1:2

by Jim Jamison

As we consider the reason that Jesus must return to the earth in the future, we start with the most glaring reason, and that is that the promise of God demands Christ’s return. The first hint of a Messianic Redeemer came in Genesis 3, right after Adam’s fall, when God promised that the seed of the woman would crush the serpents head (Genesis 3:15). In the closing chapter of Malachi, God promised that “the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings.” Malachi 4:2). In between those two promises, the entire Old Testament is filled with prophecies of the coming Deliverer (Some say there are at least 333 distinct promises). More than 100 of those prophecies were literally fulfilled at the first advent of Christ, which were fulfilled precisely, and literally. Since the prophecies concerning Christ’s first coming were fulfilled literally, it stands to reason that the remaining two-thirds of the Old Testament Messianic prophecies pointing to the return of Christ will be fulfilled literally. Much of what God promised about Christ requires that the Savior return to the earth in triumph in order to bring it to pass. Passages like Titus 1:2 remind us that God, cannot … READ MORE

Why Must Christ Return – 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

by Jim Jamison

The Scripture is neither vague nor equivocal on the promise of Christ’s return. A large proportion of Scripture is prophetic, and much of it was prophetic when originally written. it is interesting that today we live in a time when even the scoffers are in a state of fearful expectation. The frightening potential of worldwide destruction exists on several levels. In fact, the most vocal doomsayers today are not people who expect the return of Christ, but secularists who have recognized that this world and all life on it inevitably will end someday. They are right, It will end, but not because of any ecological irresponsibility or human destructiveness. That is not to say that some of the events will not be triggered by human means, fur the Bible tells us that the world as we know it will end with the return of Jesus Christ. The history of the world will climax in His literal bodily return to the earth. How do we know this? The Bible gives us clear evidence of this fact. And I would like to point out those things over the next few days. In the meantime, as believers, we need to take comfort in … READ MORE

World conditions in the last times – 2 Peter 3:3-4

by Jim Jamison

Today, there are many people who are laughing at those who say that the Lord is planning on a return. Some of it has been brought on by the date setters and the radical fringe who have made a mockery out of that event. But the reality is that many deny Christ’s return because they hate the thought of divine retribution. They want the freedom to pursue all kinds of lustful pleasures without any fear of future punishment. As we evaluate our culture and our world situation, we see that the attitude and actions of the world and the church point to the reality that the return of the Lord is at hand. What does that mean for us as we consider this reality?1. We need to make sure that our relationship with Christ is based on the clear teaching of the Word of God.2. We need to seek to honor the Lord every day with our actions and thinking.3. We need to understand the truth so that we can continue to be a beacon of hope and help to our community.4. We need to live the hope that is provided by understanding that this world is moving rapidly toward … READ MORE
