World conditions during the last days – 2 Timothy 4:3-4

by Jim Jamison

Why is the world and the church in such a terrible state? 2 Timothy 4:3-4 tells us, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” The Word “endure” means to “hold one’s self firm and erect,” and describes people who will not take a definite stand for the things of Christ. The reason for this is because sound doctrine is a singing rebuke to ungodly living that is unacceptable and intolerable to those who persist in sin. Those who live contrary to sound doctrine resent and resist the teaching’s which are clearly presented in the Word of God. The problem is that the minds and hearts of those who reject God’s truth become spiritually dislocated, . When God’s truth is knowingly rejected, Satan’s falsehood is inevitable, though often unknowingly, embraced. In other words, a deliberate rejection of God’s truth makes a person vulnerable to Satan’s myths. We find ourselves in a day and age, where people no longer want to know what the Bible says, they … READ MORE

World conditions in the last days – 2 Timothy 3:1-5

by Jim Jamison

What will the attitude of people be as the Lord prepares to return? 2 Timothy 3:1-5 says, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, prod, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, head, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” Reading through this sounds like a montage of the world culture today. With the emphasis on self-actualization today, we have created a culture of people who are more concerned about themselves, than the people around them. We have a generation of people who have abandoned what is right and have accepted the truth that we are our own authority. We have become a people who, “do what is right in our own eyes!” We need to recognize that we have an authority, and He has revealed His will to us through His Word – the Bible! As we exalt ourselves, we diminish the authority of the Word of God, and in so doing we … READ MORE

World Conditions in the Last times – 1 Timothy 4:1-2

by Jim Jamison

As we look forward to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are told in scripture that one of the most diabolical issues that will happen is the departure of those leading the church and attending churches from the Word of God. 1 Timothy 4:1-2 tells us that, “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,” We have already mentioned that there is a departure from the truth, with people saying, “don’t tell me what the Bible says, tell me what I want to believe. These “seducing spirits,” will deceive, mislead, or cause others to wander into error and delusion by directing people away from a relationship with Jesus Christ, and encourage people to come to God in other ways. Over the years many people have asked me, “Why are their so many “religions?” The reason is because people have attempted to figure out how to get to God from a human perspective rather than accepting the Biblical truth concerning a relationship with God which we see in John 14:16 … READ MORE
