Think on these things – Philippians 4:8

by Jim Jamison

The mind is a wonderful gift that the Lord has given to us, we need to learn to control our minds and discipline them to focus on that which is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. That is where true contentment, and satisfaction comes from. Yet this can only be done, as we develop our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. It starts at salvation, but it must continue to grow and develop. Knowing what God has done for us, and continues to do for us, is a key to learning to meditate on the things outlined in Philippians 4:8. Stay in the Word of God and allow that truth to transform your thinking.… READ MORE

Maintain your perspective – Philippians 4:8

by Jim Jamison

How do you look at life? Do you perceive your circumstances based on what you believe is best for you? When we do this, we are never really satisfied with what happens. We struggle because things do not seem to be fair. I would like to propose that we begin to look at life from God’s point of view. We need to remember that God is working out everything in conformity with His purpose and will! As we do this, we must choose to respond the right way to our circumstances, and occupy our mind by planning and deciding the proper way to go. With that in mind how do we replace unjust thoughts? First, understand that right thoughts replaces hurtful thoughts, just like light removes darkness. Second, right thoughts replaces personal pride. Choose your Attitude – Psalm 118:24

by Jim Jamison

After a short break, I am back with another thought, from Philippians 4:8. Attitude is an important part of our lives, and the amazing thing is that we control it. To often we allow our emotions or circumstances to drive us away from what we know to be true, and then we cop and “attitude” that is not helping us through those circumstances, as a matter of fact it causes us to have a worse day, than if we focus on the principles of Philippians 4:8. Don’t get me wrong, thinking correctly is a hard thing to do, we often want to wallow in our self-pity and frustration. We believe that we deserve to be miserable. But the truth of the matter is that a miserable attitude really hurts us more than it does anyone around us. People just simply ignore us and stay away. We are the losers in this scenario. Don’t allow the day to dictate your attitude, use the Scripture, and allow yourself to see the blessings of the day. Psalm 118:24 reminds us, “This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Rejoice in the day God has given … READ MORE
