Because of the Work of Christ seen in Acts 2, at Pentecost, we see that the plan and purpose of God is now carried out through the work of the Holy Spirit in the church, which was established. Salvation is made possible because the Holy Spirit brings us into a new and unique relationship with Christ. It is that relationship with Christ that makes the change in the life of the believer. We do not become different because we are better than anyone else, we become different because of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, which is made possible by the work of Christ. Therefore, I must understand that the power to live the Christian life is not in me, personally, but in learning to walk in the Spirit of God. Like a child has to learn to use the muscles and skeleton that they are born with, we as believers need to learn to use the spiritual “muscles and skeleton” that we possess because of the presence of the Holy Spirit. How is that done? You must spend time in the Word of God and begin to apply the principles outlined to become conformed into the image of God’s dear Son. Take time each day to read the Word, so that you can learn and grow.
