It has been said that if the Holy Spirit were to withdraw from the church tomorrow, much of what is done would continue as it is. We must remember that service for God is no dependent on our talents or abilities. That is a comfort when we don’t think we are qualified to do the work that we are called to do, and it is challenge when we believe that we can do the work without any help. Many people can perform, few can minister. And we are called to minister for God, not preform for ourselves. 1 Corinthians 12:7-12 reminds us that it is the Holy Spirit that gives gifts to the church, for the benefit of those who are apart of the church. You do not have to be “as good as” anyone else, the Holy Spirit only wants you to learn to use your gifts to the best of YOUR ability. The key to success in service is not dependent on us, it is dependent on God. May we learn to allow Him to enable us to serve effectively, and allow Him to produce the results that He desires. Failure in service is a lack of faithfulness to the Lord, not a lack of “success” in results!
