1 Corinthians 13 is a very popular passage of Scripture known as the “love” chapter of the Bible. IN verses -7 we find the most comprehensive biblical description of the fullness of love. Paul shines love through a prism and we see 15 of its colors and hues. Each ray gives a facet of agape love. These characteristics do not focus on what love is so much as on what love does and does not do. We must understand that love is active, and not an abstract or passive “feeling.” Love is fully love only when it acts (cf. 1 John 3:18). Take some time this week and ponder the points that are outlined in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, and then do something very hard. Evaluate your relationships and determine if you are making loving choices in the relationships that you have around you. Remember, these characteristics are not suggestions that are nice, they are specific guidelines for us to choose to manifest in our lives. To choose otherwise, would not be simply a mistake, but rather sin against God. So we need to consider these things carefully.
