Manna is a beautiful symbol of Jesus, come down from above. Jesus says in John 6:35 “I am the Bread of Life” Where God guides, He provides. Where He leads, He feeds! God didn’t bring the Israelites as far as He did to let to let them starve. He had a plan for Israel just as He does for us, and all we need to do is follow, recognizing hat He will provide for our daily needs as we follow Him. Whether that path leads over a mountain, or down a valley; through a sea, desert, wilderness, or whatever, He promises to meet the needs along the way if we will simply follow him. Jesus’ being the “Bread of Life” means that He provides for us life, strength, hope, and perspective. All that we need is wrapped up in this picture of Jesus being the “Bread of life” and it is illustrated perfectly by the picture of Manna in the Old Testament. God provided for Israel in according to their need, even though at times they complained and became dissatisfied. We must recognize that God is providing for us, even when we take it for granted, and even if we think that God is not giving us what we want. He gives us what we need! Not what we want. Always remember, what we want has unintended consequences What we need produces the best results.
