As we approach the Word of God we need to be reminded that it is not simply put together by men over time, and therefore, is full of fun stories that are given to give us some measure of instruction. Rather, according to 2 Peter 1:20-21, “holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” We must realize that the Bible do not give us stories to enjoy, it reveals to us the accounts of God in providing salvation to mankind. While the incarnation account is an essential element of that account, everything points to the reason Jesus came, not when He came. Jesus became the fulfilment of Old Testament prophecy, and is therefore clearly identified by God to be the promised seed of Genesis 3:15. Jesus birth is essential as He took on the nature of man, to provide salvation for those who will recognized God’s wonderful gift. Christmas is a special time, when we are reminded that Jesus came in history to provide redemption for those who will receive it.
