We need to recognize that Salvation comes through Jesus Christ. John 14:6 reminds us of 3 very important truths. First, Jesus alone is the way to God. Jesus’ life reveals who the Father is and what he is like. Second, Jesus alone provides the Truth about God. Jesus teaches that those who reject His teaching are blind to the truth of God’s word. We are reminded in John 1:1 that Jesus is the Word of God, and is the God of the Word. And third, we are reminded here that He alone posses the “life of God” On his way to the tomb of Lazarus Jesus says to Martha (Lazarus’ sister). I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. Then to prove that He is “the life,” He goes to the tomb of Lazarus and raises him from the dead. Other than His own personal resurrection, this was the single most important miracle that Jesus performed. All the other miracles the religious leaders could argue against. This miracle they could not deny or argue against, because of the number of credible witness who experienced this miracle. They hated it so much, that in John 12 we see that the religious leaders plan to not only kill Jesus, but also Lazarus! So what does this all mean? It means that we can trust the Word of God and Trust the plan of God for our redemption and assurance of eternal life. May you embrace this truth and come to God through the person of Jesus Christ.
