Godly peace has nothing to do with human beings or human circumstances. In fact, it cannot be produced on a human level at all. The peace that God gives is not subject to the changing winds of circumstances. It is an attitude of heart and mind when we believe, and thus know deep down that all is well between ourselves and God. Along with this thinking is the assurance that God is lovingly in control of everything. The reality is that we enter into the peace of God when we come to Him and ask for forgiveness of our sin. When we live outside that peace it is only because we do not rest in the reality of God’s presence in our lives, not because it not available to us because of our circumstances. Remember my friends, God is personally involved in our peace. That peace is an outworking of the Spirit of God in our lives (Galatians 5:22), So we know that the “Lord of peace HIMSELF . . . will grant you peace.” (emphasis mine). Rest in the comfort of the Holy Spirit as He rules in your mind and heart.
