The book of Revelation is not only a book proclaiming judgment and displaying the wrath of God, it is also a book that depicts a wonderful scene in heaven, and one of the glorious events that is mentioned is found in Revelation 19:6-10! Here we are invited to see the loving ceremony which will usher in that long-awaited event – the second coming of Christ. The marriage supper of the Lamb is a glorious celebration of the marriage of Jesus to HIs Bride the church. Having been presented glorified, purified, and spotless before God’s throne, the Bride is made ready to be presented to her husband. The blessed truth that God will be in personal fellowship forever with all the redeemed saints of all the ages is so significant that the angel who showed John these things, say “Write: Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb! … These are true words of God.” (Revelation 19:9). This is not a pronouncement for John, but to those who hear and heed the call of God to turn to Him from their sin, and follow Christ. What a blessing to know that God has a plan for His children, that lead to peace and rest. What a privilege to be invited to the great banquet where we will be eternally united to the wonderful Savior in a unique way. Take heart my friend, life is not about the things we accumulate in this life, rather it is a preparation for wonderful things to come.
