The evidence is irrefutable, the verdict rendered; judgment will be swiftly carried out. Revelation 22:14-15 gives us a sad reminder of what happens to those who are not found written in the book of life. Those who die in their sins in this present world of time and space will die a second death in eternity – they will be sentenced to the lake of fire forever. Scripture vividly portrays the various aspects of the final, fiery hell, The Bible also depicts this place as a place of total darkness, which will isolate its inmates from each other (Matthew 8:12). There is only one way to avoid the terrifying reality of hell. Those who confess their sins and ask God to forgive them on the basis of Christ’s substitutionary death on their behalf will be delivered from God’s eternal wrath (Romas 5:9; 1 Thessalonians 1:10). For those who refuse to repent, the somber warning expressed by the writer of Hebrews, in Hebrews 10:26-31, will apply. The time for preparation for eternity is now, turn to the Lord while you still have the opportunity.
