Florence Nightingale wrote: “Life is a hard fight, a struggle, a wrestling with the principle of evil, hand to hand, foot to foot. Every inch of the way is disputed.” We are in a battle and that battle is fought for our eternal soul? There is not a single place that we can go that the battle doesn’t rage. The reason for that is because the battle takes place in our mind. In Ephesians 6:12 we are told that “we do not wrestle with flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powe3rs, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” fighting on all fronts will require a special resource, because the power of darkness will overwhelm us if we rely on our own strength. The good new is that Jesus is our resource, and the power that He provides is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit to enable us to overcome that evil way of thinking. 1 John 4:4 tells us that “greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” We have victory because of the work of Christ on the cross. We must always remember we do not have to fight FOR victory, we fight FROM victory! As a follower of Jesus Christ our minds are renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit, and it is that Spirit that enables us to put into practice the Word of God. There is one issue with this! We must know the Word in order to put it in practice. Take time each day to learn and grow through the truth of God’s Word, and you will be able to stand in the power of God’s might.
