When we make choices in our lives, we seldom think about the long term consequences of our choice. We normally ae only focused on the choices that we are making at the moment, and we forget that there is a ripple effect from any decision that we make. Some of those effects are minor, but they are still life altering. On the other hand, some choices are major and have set the stage of every historical happening. Galatians 4:4 says, “When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His So, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.” God entered into history and history has been changed for all of eternity. In a similar manner we need to recognize that the decisions we make will impact us as we reach a fork in the road. The path we take is a divergent path that “alters” our “history.” For example, when Esau decided to sell his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of stew, it forever altered not only his destiny and the destiny of his genealogy, but the destiny of Jacob and the relationship that he had with his parents.
