Our peace is not subject to circumstances – Philippians 4:7

by Jim Jamison

2 Thessalonians 3:16 says, Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always BY ALL MEANS.” (Emphasis mine) As a believer our peace is built upon the unchangeable nature of our God. We can be encouraged today in the knowledge that God’s divine plan and promise for us is unfailing and He will hold us in the hollow of His hand during the times of difficulties and trials. This allows us to demonstrate to those who are not believers that Jesus keeps His promises when, in the midst of worldly upheavals, that threaten to tear us up and trouble our lives, we find rest to face those circumstances. God’s great desire is that we enjoy His peace in the midst of the struggles of life. It is God’s grace that enables us to grow spiritually in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). It is His grace that helps us cope with our anxieties, and equips us for service. If we rely on God’s grace, He will see us through the most difficult trials that we may have to face. God’s peace is always available – 2 Thessalonians 3:16

by Jim Jamison

In 2 Thessalonians 3:16 Paul prays that, “the Lord of peace himself give you peace ALWAYS by all means.” (Emphasis mine). People who can ride through the toughest issues of life and remain calm are not indifferent to their circumstances: they are just trusting God. Isaiah 26:3 reminds us that, “[God] will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: (reason) because he trusts in you.” Our peace is established by trusting in the Lord for our salvation and obeying His Word. As we are obedient, we are reminded that whatever God permits to come into our is beneficial for our growth and development as a person. Knowing that God is using all the difficulties we face to mature us will enable us to live in peace, because we can understand that there is a reason and purpose fo all the things that are permitted to enter our lives. Living according to God’s revealed standards of righteousness brings us peace. … READ MORE

God’s peace is a divine gift – 2 Thessalonians 3:16

by Jim Jamison

Paul’s prayer in 2 Thessalonians 3:16 is that we might experience God’s divine peace in our lives. Its source is God and God alone. And the reality is that we cannot find that peace, nor can we earn it, it is the gift of God to us based on His grace. God’s peace is given to us in the measure that we need based of the circumstances of our loves, and according to 2 Corinthians 12 is sufficient for our need. As we learn to trust God’s Word and God’s Person we find the strength we need to face all the issues of life. Jesus said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with your, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” There is no greater gift for the anxious mind than living in God’s peace. We must remember that there is always enough available peace to satisfy the need we have, in the moment. Learn to trust the Lord, and trust what He has given to us through His Word, knowing that His Word is built upon His person.… READ MORE
