The Deity of the Holy Spirit – Romans 12:1-2

by Jim Jamison

While the concept of a triune Godhead is still somewhat of a mystery to our understanding, the existence of a distinction of persons in the essence of the Godhead may be clearly seen and determined in the Scriptures. It is important for us to understand that the Holy Spirit while a separate person in the Godhead, is still God! As God He is able to do all that His role demands of Him, and is able to keep us in the salvation that He has applied to us, through the Work of Christ. What does that mean to us? It means that the empowerment we received from the Holy Spirit at our salvation is sufficient to begin the process of conforming us into the Image of Christ. What the world sees of us, must be that image. Are we allowing the Holy Spirit of God to transform us into the image of Christ. Romans 12:1-2 reminds us, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, ace[table unto God, which is your reasonable service. The Work of the Holy Spirit – 2 Thessalonians 2:13

by Jim Jamison

We are reminded in 2 Thessalonians 2:13 that we worked in our lives to draw us to Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. As a member of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit has His own unique, vital, and indispensable role to perform in the creation and nurturing of the true church. We must understand that the Holy Spirit is a person, and that He desires to work with us, and within us to conform us into the image of Christ. It is our role to learn to submit to the Will of the Spirit, so that we might better understand the power of God at our disposal to live and walk in the Christian life. Walking in the Spirit is a way of life, not a one time event, we need to spend time in the work of God to “feed” our spiritual life, and to understand His Word. The amazing aspect of the Spiritual life is that it is the Holy Spirit that enables us to walk and grow in our relationship with God. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to give us spiritual life, conceived by the work of Christ, and born again … READ MORE

The Work of the Holy Spirit in providing Scripture – 2 Peter 1:20-21

by Jim Jamison

How do we know that the Word of God is true and complete? According to 2 Peter 1:20-21, it is the work of the Holy Spirit of God to give us the Bible. Men did not write the Bible as a work of their own volition, it is the Spirit of God who guided them to write what we needed to know. The value of that is that while the Bible was completed over many centuries, it still only had one true author – The Spirit of God! This demonstrates that the Word of God is reliable, and true, and that as a result we can trust what it says. This is foundational to our Christianity. This is the basis for the security we have and the authority that we have in following the Bible. We must always remember that the Bible does NOT contain the word of God, it IS the Word of God in totality. What a comfort it is to know and understand that the Bible was given to us to understand who God is and what He is doing to reconcile us to Himself. Spend time today reading your Bible, it is God’s love letter to … READ MORE
