Living in the Truth – John 14:6

by Jim Jamison

We need to recognize that Salvation comes through Jesus Christ. John 14:6 reminds us of 3 very important truths. First, Jesus alone is the way to God. Jesus’ life reveals who the Father is and what he is like. Second, Jesus alone provides the Truth about God. Jesus teaches that those who reject His teaching are blind to the truth of God’s word. We are reminded in John 1:1 that Jesus is the Word of God, and is the God of the Word. And third, we are reminded here that He alone posses the “life of God” On his way to the tomb of Lazarus Jesus says to Martha (Lazarus’ sister). I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. Then to prove that He is “the life,” He goes to the tomb of Lazarus and raises him from the dead. Other than His own personal resurrection, this was the single most important miracle that Jesus performed. All the other miracles the religious leaders could argue against. This miracle they could not deny or argue against, because of the number of credible witness who experienced this miracle. They hated it … READ MORE

Exclusivity of Salvation – John 14:6

by Jim Jamison

What is the one area of the Bible that you want to make sure you are correct about? God? Holy Spirit? Who am I? I would contend that the one area that we all want to make sure we are correct about is “Where will you spend eternity?” Today if you ask most people if they are going to heaven, they will say “I hope so!” or “I wish I knew”. In John 20:31, he makes it clear that the words that are written in his gospel were put there that we might believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that believing this truth you will have eternal life. Salvation is the gift of God, that He gives us by His grace. We do not earn that gift (Ephesians 2:8-9) but receive it through faith in Christ alone. But how can we be certain that is true? What gives me the right to say that if we seek salvation by any other means, we are wrong about our faith? Let’s start that thinking with a simple verse that Jesus shares with the disciples in John 14:6 when He is talking to them just prior to His … READ MORE

Are you “Proclaiming His Death?” – 1 Corinthians 11:26

by Jim Jamison

We are reminded in 1 Corinthians 11:26 that as we participate at the Lord’s Supper we have the ability to “proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.” How do we do that? First of all, by living with a grateful heart for all that the Lord has done for us. We need to learn how to be grateful, since it becomes natural to always want more! Second, we share what God has done for us to others; giving Him the glory for all that He has done and is doing. Finally, we proclaim the Lord’s death, by allowing the Word of God to alter our lives. We no longer live for ourselves, we live for the Lord. As we do these things we direct peoples attention to God and His goodness! Choose today, to live in gratitude for all that God is doing, and share what He is doing with those who are around you, allowing the working of God to make you a new person.… READ MORE
