The Benefits of the Word of God – Psalm 119:105

What are the benefits of reading the Word of God? First, it is the source of truth (John 17:17) People today look everywhere for answers to life, to try to find out what is worth believing and what is not. The source of all truth about God and man, life and death, time and eternity, damnation and salvation, is all found in God’s own word!. Another benefit is It is the true source of happiness (Luke11:28). No person can be happier than when they discover, accept and obey the Word of God. It gives hope and perspective in the midst of all troubles and trials of life. It also gives direction in our lives (Psalm 119:105). What a privilege it is that God has revealed to us how to serve and please Him. Understanding the Word of God gives us that insight. The final thing I will mention is that it is the source of victory over our great spiritual enemy – Satan!. Matthew 4 gives us a clear picture of how Jesus gained victory over Satan in his temptation in the wilderness. The importance of the Word of God – 2 Peter 1:20-21

As we approach the Word of God we need to be reminded that it is not simply put together by men over time, and therefore, is full of fun stories that are given to give us some measure of instruction. Rather, according to 2 Peter 1:20-21, “holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” We must realize that the Bible do not give us stories to enjoy, it reveals to us the accounts of God in providing salvation to mankind. While the incarnation account is an essential element of that account, everything points to the reason Jesus came, not when He came. Jesus became the fulfilment of Old Testament prophecy, and is therefore clearly identified by God to be the promised seed of Genesis 3:15. Jesus birth is essential as He took on the nature of man, to provide salvation for those who will recognized God’s wonderful gift. The Sword of the Spirit – Ephesians 6:17

Since sin has such a strong hold on us, how ae we suppose o gain victory over sin in our lives Even as a believer, we still struggle with sinful choices and sinful habits. We try all sorts of things to attempt to overcome those sinful habits and patterns that lead us down a road to sin. Yet there is only one thing that will enable us to overcome, those tendencies. Jesus said in John 8:32 “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Davie days in Psalm 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:17, “Take the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.” Knowing God’s Word is the key to overcoming the battle with sin in our lives. It is knowing who God is and what He has done for us, that is the motivation to choosing to please Him, and serve Him.
