Romans 8:26 says, “For we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” This is a reminder that there are times that we are not even aware of our Spiritual need, much less how to best pray for them. What a comfort we can find in the reality that our spiritual security rests in the Lord’s faithfulness to us rather than in our vacillating commitment to Him. So the Spirit does not simply provide our security but is Himself our security. The result of all this is that we remain justified and righteous before God the Father because the Son and the Holy Spirit are our constant advocates and intercessors, representing us before Him. If it were not for the sustaining power of the Spirit within us and Christ’s continual mediation for us as High Priest (Hebrews 7:25-26), our remaining humanness would have immediately engulfed us again into sin the moment after we were justified. Today live in the comfort and confidence of the interceding work of the Holy Spirit in your life.
