In Matthew 5:14, Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world.” Every light has at its root a source. For the Believer the source of the light that we display is the power of the Holy Spirit. As Jesus was preparing to ascend to heaven, He said to the Disciples, “You shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses to me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8). The question for us to consider is not “Am I a light to the world?” the question we should be asking ourselves, is “What type of light am I being as a follower of Jesus Christ.” God saved us to be a light to the world, and we as determined that we MUST share that light. He has given us a resource to allow us to shine brightly in this world. Being children of light (1 Thessalonians 5:5) is what we are not what we become. Today, allow God to shine through you. Allow the Lord to renew your mind through the Word of God, and choose to bring honor and glory to Him through your words and actions.
